Meet Our Summer Students 2023!
This summer, we welcome three summer employees to our team. Meet Sara Anne Mailloux (right). She oversees the Youth in Action summer camps offered by the West Nipissing Community Health Center and lends a hand with multiple other programs such as the OASIS Seniors Day Program and the Youth Positive Space Program. Originally from Sturgeon Falls, she now lives in Sudbury during the school year to pursue her Nursing studies at Laurentian University. She will then begin her 4th and final year of Nursing in September. Sara states greatly enjoying her summer job as she can apply her talents, interests, and values into work, meet new people from the community and work with a wonderful team.
Meet Corrie Giroux (middle). She is currently working as a Community Health Assistant and aiding in organizing activities for the Youth in Action camps, the OASIS Seniors Day Program, and lending a hand with the Alzheimer Society’s Program. Corrie has just finished her first year at Collège Boréal in the Physiotherapist and Occupational therapist assistant program in Sudbury. For the summer, she returned to West Nipissing to deepen her knowledge and increase her level of experience to better serve her community. It has always been a dream for her to assist those in need, which is why her choice in program and summer employment will guide her to post-educational success.
Meet Niamh (Neeve) Hopkins (left). It’s Niamh’s second summer at the West Nipissing Community Health Centre. She works as one of the Community Health Assistants, assisting with the organization of many of the programs that the Centre offers such as the French and English OASIS Senior Day Program as well as the week-long and one-day summer camps for kids “Youth in Action”. Niamh, who has roots in West Nipissing, has just graduated high school in Toronto and is heading to Nipissing University in North Bay in the fall to begin her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in hopes of eventually becoming a nurse practitioner working in primary care. She is very excited to be working in West Nipissing as it is bringing her new experiences, allowing her to learn new skills in a fulfilling position as well as further appreciate the culture up North in her soon-to-be new home!
Welcome to our team Sara Anne, Corrie and Niamh!
